Trio de Liverpool né en 2005 et composé de Matthew Murphy, Dan Haggis et Tord Overland-Knudsen, The Wombats parvient à remplir de prestigieuses salles comme le Carling Academy de Liverpool sans même avoir sorti d'albums.
L'esprit post-punk très sautillant de ce combo et l'énergie de leurs prestations live leur permet de sortir un premier single, Let's Dance to Joy Division en 2007, qui précède la sortie d'un premier album, "A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation".
